Our History

White-Van Buren Funeral Home was originally established in 1894 by Loren White, who opened the White Funeral Home in Delanson, New York. In 1904, the business moved to its present location at 1779 Main Street, where it also operated as a furniture store—a common practice at the time.

Following Loren White’s passing in 1923, his son Galen White assumed leadership of the funeral home. In 1955, the business was purchased by Leonard and Beatrice Hutton Van Buren, at which time it became known as White-Van Buren Funeral Home.

Their son, Leonard M. Van Buren, joined the firm in 1963, continuing the family’s commitment to professional funeral service. Leonard and “Bea” retired in 1994, and Leonard “Lenny” Van Buren managed the funeral home until his retirement in 2005.

In 1994, White-Van Buren Funeral Home was acquired by DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, ensuring the continuation of dignified, caring service for the Delanson community. Today, the funeral home proudly carries forward its long tradition of compassionate care and professional excellence.
