Shirley Ernest

Shirley Ernest, a longtime resident of Esperance, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Saturday May 24, 2025.

Beloved wife of the late Charles Jr.  Loving mother of son Charles III; daughters Linda (Michael) Santivenere, Karen (Gary) Forbes, and Susan. Grandmother to Eleanor and Clarice Forbes and Spencer Tibbling.

She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant HS and started her employment as a bookkeeper with the Stanton & Ouderkirk Co.  She was next employed as an Executive Assistant at SUNY Albany until her retirement.  While working there, she attended Empire State University, receiving her B.A. degree in Business Administration. As a young woman, she loved to sing and play the steel guitar on a local radio station, and also enjoyed sewing.

The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17th at the White-Van Buren Funeral Home, 1779 Main Street, Delanson, NY, 12053. Condolences can be posted at whitevanburenfh.com.
