Roy "Big Red" Mcmechen

Delanson - Roy "BIG RED" McMechen, 74, passed away on Friday April 4, 2025 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady on August 10, 1950 he was the son of Ralph and Eliza (Suhr) McMechen. Roy was a 1969 graduate of Duanesburg High School. He was a taper and taper foreman for M & R Drywall for many years and then went on to be a mechanic at the Duanesburg bus garage along with being a school bus driver before retiring. Roy loved his dogs Bridget and Brandi and will be remembered for loving his work and loving his life.

This loving and hard working husband leaves behind his loving wife Sandy of 42 years.

His brother Ralph (Shirley) McMechen and sister Catherine (the late Byron) Quick.

His sister-in-law Joann (Ted) Zielinski.

Roy is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Viewing hours will be held Friday April 11, 2025 from 12-2 pm at White-Van Buren Funeral Home 1779 Main St., Delanson.

A short prayer service will follow with burial at Grove cemetery on Rt. 395

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation (APF) 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
