Ralph J. Dott Sr. 81 left us on September 23, 2013, in Palatine Bridge NY. Ralph was born on June 1 1932 in Albany NY to Edward and Charlotte Miller Dott.
Ralph proudly served our country for many years as a reservist in the US Navy. Ralph enjoyed a long career with the of City Of Albany, As a Guard at the Alcove Reservoir and as an Animal Control Officer. Ralph worked in may capacities at the family owned Dott’s Garage . If Ralph had one great talent it was the ability to take a mangled automobile and restore it to better than new condition. He was also the owner of Zeb’s tavern in Berne NY.
One of Ralph’s greatest passions in life was the NY Yankees. He also enjoyed watching old black and white movies. Along with his love for animals, he had a knack of telling jokes he would laugh so hard half way through –you were lucky if you could understand the punch line. Ralph loved researching genealogy (family history) and taking long drives in the country. In the early 1960’s Ralph was ahead of the times when he discovered the benefits of healthy eating “ Anything white is usually unhealthy and you shouldn’t eat it.
He is survived by 5 children Ralph J. Dott Jr., J.Tracy McGuiness, Charlene J. Wood, Leslie J. Price , and Lonie J. Putnam, sisters Virginia Birdsall, Emily Dott and Frances Peterson,and his brothers Edward, Thomas(Terry), Paul and Leo (Nancy ) Dott and brother in law John Prusinski. Ralph truly enjoyed his time with his 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Madeline Sweeney and Lois Prusinski and one niece Roberta Sweeney and one nephew Steven Peterson and one niece in law Casey Sweeney..
Family and friends are invited to call at Guilderland’s DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 5216 western Turnpike (Route 20) Guilderland on Monday September 30 2013 from 5 pm to 6 pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 6 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
