Norma Norton

Norma Mae Norton (nee Downs), age 92, of Delanson NY, passed away on May 11, 2024.

Norma was born on January 28, 1932, in Cooperstown NY, to William F. and Ada Mae Downs (nee Dalrymple).

Norma dedicated her career to State of NY Agencies, specifically OGS and Tax and Finance.  She was a diligent worker who took pride in her contributions.

In her free time, Norma enjoyed gardening, caring for her beloved cats and dogs, crafting, and socializing at the senior center in Delanson.  She had a green thumb and cherished her time outdoors, reveling in her independence.

Norma is survived by her brother, Monroe W. Downs; sons, Michael Norton (Cheryl) of Fletcher, NC, and Patrick Norton of Worcester, NY; nephew Thomas C. Downs (Mary Ellen); grandchildren, Sarah Norton (Eric) of Memphis, TN, Robert Norton of Worcester, NY, Kyle Norton (Nicole) of Colonie, NY, and Cody Norton of Worcester, NY.

Norma was preceded in death by her sisters, Genevieve Wedderspoon (nee Downs), Phyllis Downs, and Doris Gage (nee Downs), as well as her husband Robert A. Norton.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Norma’s life will be held at 1:00 on Monday May 27, at 690 Cole Rd., Delanson, NY 12053. Arrangements have been entrusted to White-VanBuren Funeral Home.
