Mary Borisenko, 91, formerly of Albany, was born on June 6, 1924 in New York City and passed away on Friday, November 14, 2015. She was the oldest of child of Alex and Jadwiga Borisenko.
Aunt Mary, as we all knew her, grew up on a farm on Cotton Hill in the town of Schoharie. She often spoke of walking a mile through the woods to attend a one room school house. After graduating from Schoharie High School she took a job at the Watervliet Arsenal making guns for the war. In 1946 she began a 40 year career at the State Bank of Albany. Retirement brought many bus trips and senior functions with her friends. Mary will be remembered for the tomato plants she grew by her door in Albany and her cole slaw that everyone looked forward to on holidays.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; Alex and Jadwiga, her brother; Peter Borisenko and her nephew; Peter A. Borisenko.
She is survived by her nephews and their wives, David and Lynn Borisenko, Paul and Sara Borisenko and Mike and Rose Borisenko.
A very warm thank you goes out to the staff and residents of the Sarah Jane Sanford Home for women in Amsterdam, NY. This truly was her home in her final years.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
