Joan W (Wilsey) Clemons

Lynchburg Va-Joan Wilsey Clemons passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on July 31, 2016.    Joan was born in Gloversville NY on July 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Mildred and Dr. Arthur Wilsey.  She grew up with two brothers, Dr. Donald Wilsey of Gloversville and the late Arthur William Wilsey of Greenfield Center, NY.  Mrs. Clemons graduated from Gloversville High School in 1947, achieved a degree in Home Economics from SUNY Cobleskill in 1949, and later graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont in 1951.  She had a brief career in the child-care field.   Joan was married to the late Milford Clemons from 1963 until his death in 1994.  Mrs. Clemons is survived by her two sons, Daniel Clemons and his wife Theresa Clemons of Delanson, NY, and Mark Clemons and his wife Amy Clemons of Lynchburg, Virginia.  She is also survived by her forementioned brother, Dr. Donald Wilsey, as well as four nieces and two nephews.   Joan lived most of her life in Gloversville before moving to Delanson in 1999, and then spent her final year being cared for at home in Virginia.  Joan will be remembered for her sweet, pleasant personality, her gentle, loving heart, her frequent laughter and “happy tears”, and her appreciation of all the simple joys of life.   Calling hours will be held at the White-Van Buren Funeral Home in Delanson from 6-8PM on Friday, August 5, with a funeral planned for Saturday, August 6 at 10AM at the White-Van Buren Funeral Home.   This will be followed by burial at the West St. Johnsville Cemetery.
