Jean Bovee

d. December 8, 2016

Jean Brown Bovee,  83, retired Duanesburg Elementary teacher, passed away in her sleep at Langdon Place of Dover NH on Dec. 8, after a long slow decline from dementia.
Jean was a dedicated conscientious teacher who gained great satisfaction from the achievements of her students. She was a proud mother and grandmother who loved family gatherings and enjoyed the natural beauty around her home, where deer and turkeys frequently visited.  It was with great reluctance she moved to assisted living three years ago.

Daughter of Clayton and Marjorie (Swarts) Brown, Jean graduated from Saratoga HS as class salutatorian in 1951, and Plattsburgh State Teachers College as valedictorian in 1955.  She was pre-deceased by her husband of over 42 years, Gerald “Buck” Bovee.  She is survived by her sister, Kathy Turcins of Saratoga NY, her four children Dave ( Carol) Bovee of Dover NH, Darrell ( Angela) Bovee of Guntersville AL, Kathryn Goulden of Canajoharie NY, and Judy ( Barrett) Jordan of Hurricane, WV, along with 10 grandchildren and a great-grandson.  She also leaves behind many, many former second or third grade students.
Funeral service is to be Friday, Dec.16, 2:00 pm at the White-Van Buren Funeral home, 1779 Main St, Delanson NY.  Weather permitting, there will be a brief burial ceremony afterwards at Grove Cemetery.  A reception with light refreshments will follow, at the Esperance-Sloansville Methodist Church, 175 Main St., Esperance NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Duanesburg Education Foundation, PO Box 311, Duanesburg NY 12056, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation, www.alzfdn.org.
