James E Yauchler

d. January 11, 2015

James E. Yauchler, 65, a lifelong resident of Duanesburg, New York, entered into eternal life on January 11, 2015 at his home in Quaker Street.  Born on July 5, 1949 to Olin and Estelle Yauchler, his was a life marked by his enduring love of his family and his Lord Jesus Christ.  The eighth of nine children, he graduated from Duanesburg High School in 1967 and began a fruitful career as a carpenter and electrician.  He married the love of his life (and literally the girl next door) Linda Jayne Meyers on August 11, 1973.  Together they had five children and (soon to be) eleven grandchildren.  He carved out a considerable career in a number of venues, working on the Empire State Plaza, at The Boston Store in the Mohawk Mall, and as a self-employed contractor with J & L Construction.  His specialty, though, was in his handiwork and ability to customize any space to a homeowner’s specific desires.  This attention to detail and craft led to a number of faithful customers who also became his friends.  His handicapped pet ramps and other unique solutions to construction problems marked a career of specialized expertise and set him apart as a contractor and handyman.  As diligent as he was in his work, it was truly secondary to his life as a husband, father, and grandfather.  In his personal Bible, he marked his date of being born again as July 1973, and his marriage and family life were rooted in his belief in Christ and the promise of Heaven.  He was a true family man, putting all other needs before his own and raising his children with unequalled pride and love.  His faith led him to a life of service, especially as an EMT and a Fire Chief at the Quaker Street Volunteer Fire Company.  He also committed himself to his community in other ways, offering his help and skills throughout the neighborhood as he cultivated life-long friendships within the town.  He will always be remembered for his quirky humor and gift of gab, but also for his very real interest in listening to others and sharing his life with them.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Janet DeNovio.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Yauchler and their children:  Andrew, his wife Amy Batson, and their children Mabel and Baxter; Rebekah, her husband Ian Dingee, and their children Jacob and Tyler; Matthew, his wife Jenny, and their children Zachary, Madisson, Tyler and Joseph; Benjamin, his wife Stephanie, and their children Benjamin and James; and Bethany and her fiancé Jayson Hunter.  He is also survived by his siblings, Carol Hallenbeck, Douglas Yauchler, Richard Yauchler, Beatrice Estelle, Lillian Barnett, Eugene Yauchler, and Raymond Yauchler, his step sister Sandra Page and  many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2015.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Renewal Prayer Network, attention: Pastor Jay Richmond, Po Box 11316 Albany NY 12211.  “Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.” 1 John 4:15.
