Delanson- Elizabeth F. Smith, 84, of Elm Street Delanson passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her loving family on June 12, 2014.
She was born in Schenectady on October 30, 1929 daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Rickard.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Cobleskill High School.
Until her retirement in 2002, she was employed as a clerk in the Tax and Finance Department for NYS.
Elizabeth greatly enjoyed gardening, spending time with family (especially her grandchildren), bird watching, having a good laugh over lunch with former co-workers and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
She is survived by her children Elizabeth (Bruce) Adriance of Ga, Art Smith of NC, Carol Gensicki of Delanson, Janet Vrooman of Duanesburg, Sharon (Patrick) Wren of Delanson, Ron (Becky) Smith of Duanesburg and grandchildren  Bruce Sean (Brandee) Adriance, Cerise (Gavin) Cox, David (Nikki) Adriance , Lyn Potter, Jessica Juliano, Kirstin (Shawn) Doty, Marissa Vrooman, Sean Wren,  Kevin Wren, Ian Gensicki and 9 great grandchildren.
Elizabeth is also survived by her brother Clarence Rickard, her sister Marion Bascomb, brother Gerald (Barbara) Rickard and many nieces and nephews.
Sadly she was predeceased by her husband Jacob, daughter Patricia Smith and son in law Gordon Vrooman, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to call at the White VanBuren Funeral Home, 1779 Main Street Delanson, on Monday evening June 16, 2014 from 4 pm to 7 pm. Immediately following, funeral services will be held at 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. The family respectfully requests that donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers.
