ROTTERDAM - Edward Wengenack, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 4, 2024, after a short illness. He was born on February 17, 1933 in Springfield, NY to the late Joseph and Anna Saltys Wengenack. Edward proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1956. He worked for Freihofer's Baking Company for 43 years and took great pride in keeping his bread displays in pristine order. Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, being on the farm, time in Florida, the St. Lawrence River, the casino, and most of all spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol J. Wengenack; and granddaughter, Sandra Film.
Edward is survived by his children, Cheryl (William) Film, James (Susan) Wengenack, Darren Wengenack, Tammy (Marie Miklic) Wengenack; grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Skop, Jared (Tiffany) Wengenack, Travis (Maegan) Wengenack, and Alissa (Adam) Wengenack; great-grandchildren, Logan, Bailey, and Avery Skop, and Dean and Roy Wengenack; sister, Genevieve Prime; brother, George Wengenack; brother-in-law, Gordon Grippin; sisters-in-law, Pauline Grippin and Dorothy Grippin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday May 8th from 1 to 3pm at the White Van Buren Funeral Home, 1779 Main St., Delanson, followed by a service at 3pm. He will then be interred in Esperance Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley or a local non-profit of your choice.
