Donald served in the US Army from 1954 - 1956. He joined the New York State Police in 1957 retired in 1977 as a Sergeant and Station Commander of the Duanesburg barracks.
His love of family came first. He and Agnes traveled the USA in a truck pulling a camper. He loved camping with family. He loved fly fishing, hunting and the outdoors. His 20 years in the NY State Police defined him in many ways and his many "Trooper stories" are well known. In his early days he rode the State Police motorcycle when they were used for patrol. To his grandchildren he was a story-teller, fishing instructor, expert campfire-maker and marshmallow-roaster, Mr. Tough Guy and deep down, a teddy bear. Above all else, he was our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and his personal favorite title: husband. The love he had for Agnes was unmatched and unwavering.
