Betty J. Rose

October 18, 1953 — April 11, 2025

Betty Jane (Kouse) Rose passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday April 11, 2025 after a long battle with COPD. Born the youngest of five children to the late Achsa and Edward Kouse in Oneonta, NY on October 18, 1953, she married Virgil C. Rose, Jr. on October 16, 1970 in Delanson, NY. Together they have called Esperance their home for forty years. Betty worked at Campbell Plastics in Schenectady as a machine operator, making PVC trim for automobiles for ten years until she became a mother in 1984, which was the highlight of her life. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was a priority in her life. She was a member of the Christian Church of Charleston Four Corners in Sprakers, where she attended and served until her health declined. She enjoyed crafts, camping, bowling, creating ornaments and decorations, painting, puzzles, and her pets. She was predeceased by her mother Achsa Mae (Allen) Kouse, her father, Edward Kenneth Kouse, and one brother, Robert G. Kouse Sr.

Betty is survived by her husband of 54 years, Virgil C. Rose, Jr; her daughter, Melissa A. Rose of Esperance; her sister Barbara Robinson of Fly Creek, NY; her brother Kenneth Kouse of Milford, DE; her sister Roberta Mcgonigal of Oneonta; and many extended family. Betty’s family would like to thank her team of hospice nurses for their care and attention over the last two and a half years. Betty truly enjoyed your visits, stories, and the compassion each one of you showered her with.

A funeral service will be held at the White Van Buren Funeral Home, 1779 Main St., Delanson, on Saturday April 19th at 11am. Burial will be at the Esperance Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christian Church of Charleston Four Corners, 1380 E. Lykers Rd., Sprakers, NY 12166. Condolences can be posted at whitevanburenfh.com.
