Averil M. (Quant) Paul

July 2, 1918 — March 7, 2016

Esperance- Averil M. Paul, 97, of Main Street, Esperance, died peacefully on March 7, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Averil was born in the Town of Duanesburg on July 2, 1918 and was a daughter of Charles and Blanche McDuffee Quant. She resided there until 1948, when she moved to the village of Esperance. She graduated from Duanesburg Central School as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1936.
Averil was employed as the legal secretary of James L. Gage of Esperance for more than 20 years and stenographer for the Schoharie County Grand Jury for 8 years. She was a member of the Esperance Presbyterian Church for 86 years, having joined the church in 1930.
Averil was predeceased  in 1984 by her husband Richard A. Paul, whom she married on September 16, 1955; her parents, Charles and Blanche Quant;  one sister, Natalie Quant; along with many cherished relatives and friends.
Those who deeply loved her include her three daughters, Melanie Herrick of Marston Mills MA, Renee Evenden of Delanson, and Wendy Weideman (Ashley) of Esperance . She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Emily Herrick, Lauren Herrick, Clarissa Evenden, Haley Evenden, Elana Evenden, Kirsten (Ryan) Keller, Hannah Weideman, Keegan Weideman and two great grandchildren, Natalie and Deaglan Keller. Our hearts are broken, but full of the love we shared.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, niece, wife, mother, grandmother ,great grandmother, neighbor and friend. She cherished her family and was our “Wind Beneath Our Wings” providing us with never ending love,support,guidance and understanding.
Averil lived by the adage “for it is thru giving that we receive” and gave to others all her life.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services for Averil  will take place  on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11 am at the Esperance Presbyterian Church, Church Street,  Esperance, NY. A private interment will be held in Esperance Cemetery.
The family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Esperance Presbyterian Church,   P.O. Box 130,  Esperance, NY 12066.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White VanBuren Funeral Home 1779 Main Street Delanson NY .
