Alice Baum of Delanson, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 16, 2015. She was born on March 11, 1942 in Rumford, Maine and was the youngest of ten children born to Emile and Armande Roy.
She attended St John's School and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, ME in 1960. She trained and worked as an X ray Technician at the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME from 1960-1962. On June 16, 1962 she married her love of a lifetime, her “Forever Valentine”, Ray Baum. She continued to be employed at the University of Maine supporting her husband until he finished getting his degree. In 1964 they moved to Connecticut where they started their family which then became her entire life.
Together, she and her husband Ray raised their five children and they were always her constant joy. She sewed, gardened, went on camping trips and when the grandchildren started coming she loved spending quality time with each and every one of them. This wasn't hard because when they moved to NY and bought a farm, all of their children lived within walking distance from their home. She was always so thankful that she never had an empty nest.
Alice is survived by Ray, her husband of 52 years and 9 months, of Delanson, New York. Her children, three daughters and son-in-laws, Maura and Louis Balog, Brenda and Kevin Soucy and Stacy and Gary Bradt. Two sons and daughter-in-laws Steven and Cecelia Baum, Aaron and Rebecca Baum. Surviving grandchildren are, Christopher, Andrew and Nicolas Balog, Kyle and Alan Baum, Alisha, Madison, and Stephen Soucy, Joshua, Ryan, Evan and Zachary Bradt, Carissa and Matthew Baum. One great granddaughter Emma Lynn Balog all of Delanson, NY. Four brothers, Paul Roy, St Petersburg, FL, Gerald Roy, Charleston, WV, Albert Roy, Middlebury, CT, Charles Roy, Fairfield, CT, several sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. She has requested an informal gathering of family and friends at her home with no flowers or donations. This will take place during a private gathering at her home on Saturday, March 21, 2015 between 3 pm and 8 pm.
